National Academy of Sports Medicine and Mount Aloysius College Announce New Online Fitness Degree

The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and Mount Aloysius College (MAC) announce a strategic, new academic partnership, delivering top health and fitness curriculums and training methodologies in an entirely online classroom setting.

“The newly created Fitness/Wellness and Personal Training Associate Degree at MAC is led by nationally respected faculty who work daily with professional and collegiate athletes,” said Dr. Barry E. McGlumphy, adviser to the MAC program. “NASM has been a quality partner regarding existing bachelor’s and master’s programs at California University, and this new and very unique associate’s degree program at MAC will incorporate the same high quality content for students looking to start their college career. NASM has always strived to create a fully online career ladder for fitness students, and this new program is the first step on the academic ladder for existing and new fitness professionals.”

NASM, a global leader in personal training certification, sports performance training, and injury prevention and recovery, is the premier certifying body and education authority for Certified Personal Trainers (CPT). Accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the NASM CPT credential is the preferred choice of top health clubs and fitness facilities around the world. Students who complete the 18-month, 60-credit program earn a variety of health and fitness skills, including:

                  Conducting accurate fitness assessments

                  Recruiting and retaining clients

                  Developing evidence-based exercise programs

                  Teaching and demonstrating proper techniques

Empowering, challenging and motivating clients toward an improved      quality of life

“Through this collaboration with MAC we’re making our CPT program much more accessible and creating a long-term career path for health and fitness professionals looking to advance their education. An entirely online degree program also provides them with greater flexibility,” said Andrew Wyant, president of the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

After completing and passing the NASM-CPT exam, graduates have the opportunity to pursue flexible, and financially rewarding careers in a variety of settings such as multipurpose health clubs, corporate fitness centers, independent business operators, community centers and more. Additionally, MAC associate degrees can be applied towards a bachelor’s degree with CalU, the college’s primary academic partner.
