Wodify Powers over 300 CrossFit Boxes with an All-in-One Digital Platform for Business and Athlete Management

This press release was provided by Wodify. The Club Industry editorial staff was not involved in the creation of this content.

Wodify, a pioneer in CrossFit software, is redefining how America’s fastest growing fitness system forges elite athletes. A cloud-based platform designed to give CrossFit coaches and athletes a competitive edge, Wodify replaces the traditional whiteboard, spreadsheets, workout journals, manual class scheduling and tedious billing process with a single digital solution that puts comprehensive management and athlete tracking tools into a single application.

With Wodify, coaches stop burning time on box busywork so they can focus on what counts: building the fittest athletes in the world. It was this vision of a leaner, better box that motivated Ameet Shah, founder and CEO of Wodify, to launch the platform in Spring of 2012.

Shah, the founder of Conigent, a powerhouse in technology management consulting, has helped organizations ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies transform their business performance using cloud solutions and mobile applications. With clients that include Sheetz, Oldcastle and Polo Ralph Lauren, Shah and his team understood what it takes to supercharge massive, multinational corporations with cloud technology.

An avid outdoorsman and athlete, Shah in 2011 began doing CrossFit, a fitness system known for producing some of the toughest and fittest people in the world with high intensity “workouts of the day” (WODs) that combine brutal strength and cardio training. Shah developed a passion for the training, earned his CrossFit Level One Certification and soon turned his genius for cloud technology towards the CrossFit industry.

“As a CrossFitter, I wanted technology that could boost athlete performance and help owners and coaches be even more effective,” said Shah. “CrossFit needed a solution that could make the community more accountable, more connected and more responsive to the challenges of the sport. I wanted to develop a solution that could live inside the box yet continue to power CrossFit outside the box.”

Leveraging the skill and experience of his development team at Conigent, Shah produced Wodify.

Boxes that adopt Wodify replace their traditional whiteboard with a digital whiteboard kiosk where athletes can view the WOD, check in to class and input performance results into the Coachboard. The web and mobile platform allows coaches to configure WODs in advance, view athlete progress and attendance over time, see athlete percentage charts (all percentages of 1-rep max for a back squat, for instance) and automate processes like billing and class scheduling. Athletes too can track their results with graphs, log their diet and post results directly to Facebook and Twitter from Wodify.

“Wodify provides CrossFit boxes an unprecedented level of information, all integrated and presented to enhance the experience,” said Shah. “Coaches really know their athletes and athletes really see their results. By the end of 2013, there are going to be 10,000 CrossFit gyms around the world, and our goal is to put Wodify in each and every one.”

Wodify is currently used by over 300 boxes. Users include Rich Froning, owner of CrossFit Mayhem and three-peat CrossFit Games Champion, Graham Holmberg, 2010 winner of the CrossFit Games, Christmas Abbot, a celebrity CrossFitter and NASCAR’s first female pit crew member, and Austin Malleolo, head coach of Reebok CrossFit One and a celebrated CrossFit competitor.

Besides producing the best available CrossFit cloud platform, the Wodify team of passionate CrossFitters follows a 1-1-1 Philanthropy Program. 1 percent of profits, 1 percent of products and services and 1 percent of each employee’s time are donated to charitable causes including Tech Girlz, Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, CrossFit for Hope and the Wounded Warrior Project.

“Wodify is the only program that fully benefits the athlete as well as the affiliate owner and business,” said Jay Ross, owner of CrossFit Conshohocken. ““Every one of our members participates in tracking their data…not the rare few that keep notebooks or journals. This has kept our athletes more engaged in their training and more dedicated to their progression.”
