Technogym, a world-leading company supplying products, services and solutions in wellness and fitness, today announced the renewal of its long-standing partnership with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the Exercise is Medicine (EIM) initiative through 2017. Launched in 2007, the Exercise is Medicine initiative is a global, multi-dimensional initiative to make physical activity a key part of disease prevention and treatment in the United States and other international healthcare systems.

Since 2010, Technogym and the ACSM have partnered in the Exercise is Medicine initiative to encourage primary care physicians and other health care providers to include exercise when designing treatment plans for patients. Exercise is Medicine is committed to the belief that exercise and physical activity are integral to the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, and promotes the connection between health care providers, fitness professionals and the general public within the full healthcare spectrum.  As a result of this ongoing partnership, Technogym has helped EIM expand to 43 countries, making it a true global, multi-dimensional initiative. In the United States, EIM is currently implemented in more than 200 healthcare sites in seven markets by nearly 10,000 physicians, reaching more than 2 million participants.

Technogym has long been a proponent of public health and awareness programs, such as its own Let’s Move for a Better World campaign to fight childhood obesity, as well as its existing partnerships with major health organizations in the United States and the world. Technogym continues to work with the Exercise is Medicine initiative to expand the program’s reach even further internationally.

“We are very proud of our work with the American College of Sports Medicine and the Exercise is Medicine initiative,” said Nerio Alessandri, President and Founder of Technogym. “The initiative’s mission to incorporate fitness into patient treatment plans aligns with our dedication to incorporate exercise and healthy lifestyles into preventative health.  We strive to help health facilities realize this goal through the unparalleled technology and medical info that Technogym can aggregate and measure through our Wellness Lifestyle CRM.”

“Our partnership with Technogym is invaluable.  Our shared commitment to promoting the health benefits of physical activity creates a synergy that is positively impacting lives,” said Adrian Hutber, PhD, Vice President of Exercise is Medicine.  “Technogym’s support has fueled EIM’s rapid, global expansion into more than 40 countries where we’re now working with health professionals to prevent and treat chronic diseases by including physical activity in treatment plans for patients.”

Technogym will be participating in ACSM’s 6th World Congress on Exercise is Medicine at the ACSM’s annual meeting in San Diego, CA from May 26-30, 2015 at Booth #415.  Technogym’s major focus at the show is to demonstrate how Technogym’s Wellness Lifestyle CRM can help hospitals and health care centers prescribe fitness regimens and goals to their patients and monitor their progress and milestones throughout their treatment programs.
