PEP Funding Uncertain

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor-HHS-Education marked up its version of the Fiscal Year 2007 spending bill and agreed to go along with President Bush’s request to cut funding for the Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) to $26.4 million for next year, a 65 percent reduction from this year’s $72.6 million.

The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance is leading a campaign against the cut. To get involved, visit the AAHPERD Legislative Action Center at http://capwiz.com/aahperd/issues/alert/?alertid=8832766&type=CO.
