News from our favorite fitness non-profit.

Operation FitKids (OFK) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of America's youth with enhanced education for healthy lifestyles and increased opportunities for physical activity. Through the generous donations of individuals and companies, OFK can continue to reach as many of the nation's youth as possible. To date, these donations have given more than 100 schools their own fitness facility or exercise equipment.

OFK's latest donor is Life Fitness, a manufacturer that supplied 100 treadmills. Although previously owned, the treadmills are in excellent condition.

“This is an incredibly fitting donation for Life Fitness,” said Ken Germano, founder of OFK and executive director of the American Council on Exercise (ACE). “Life Fitness is one of the leading manufacturers of exercise equipment, and they have seen the importance of becoming a part of one of the only solutions that will increase physical education in schools.

“They are helping kids form better habits and utilize exercise and technology to create a healthier future,” Germano added.

Although granting wishes for all schools can be a bit challenging, OFK tries to meet the needs of every request for exercise equipment. To learn about ways that you can help, including sponsoring a fund-raiser or donating equipment, please contact ACE at (800) 535-8227. All donations are tax-deductible. Financial donations may be sent to Operation FitKids, 4851 Paramount Drive, San Diego, CA 92123.
