An arrest has yet to be made in the murder case of a fitness boot camp instructor who was discovered dead inside a Texas church in April. "Nothing about it makes sense," Kristi Stout, Missy Bevers' sister-in-law, told NBC's Today on Monday. The suspect may have recorded Bevers' murder on a cell phone, and a "creepy and strange" private message was sent to Bevers on LinkedIn three days prior to her death, according to Today, citing court documents.

U.S. Olympic men's swim team members Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte put training laps in at the YMCA of Greater Kansas City-operated Platte County Community Center pool ahead of last week's Olympic Trials. The two were traveling with teammates on an Omaha-bound plane that was diverted to Kansas City en route due to an oxygen issue, according to an NBC Olympics report. Phelps and Lochte went on to qualify for next month's Rio Games in Omaha.

A Snap Fitness in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, is offering one free month of membership to anyone who presents a concealed handgun license, according an NFWDailyNews.com report. Manager David Newby told the publication that he was "thinking of a creative way to bring people in and give them a reason to check the gym out."

Pop star Justin Bieber sprained his ankle while playing basketball at a LA Fitness prior to a June 24 concert in Cincinnati, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer, citing social media posts. Bieber went on to perform his arena show later that night.

LA Fitness CEO Louis Welch sold his Walker Tower penthouse condominium in New York City for $45 million in a deal that closed on June 10, according to The Real Deal. Welch purchased the condo for $40.3 million in 2014.

Underwood Park CrossFit in Fort Edward, New York, is helping a woman who was injured in a 2000 snowmobile accident walk again, according to News10. Co-owner Michael Plank adapted his boot camp class to fit Carol Davis' needs, and he called her attitude and inner strength "really inspiring."

A CrossFit instructor in Russia accidentally set a world record for the most pull-ups (67) in a minute while filming a promotional video, according to the Daily Mail. Victor Makurov said he does not plan to apply for the record, which was set by Michael Eckert in 2015 (50 pull-ups).

Zumba CEO Alberto Perlman credited the popularity of group exercise programming to the rise of the instructor, according to Business Insider Australia. “You’re seeing all these trends from boutiques to Zumba to CrossFit, and everything, because the fitness industry realized that it was about the instructor and it was the consumers who told the fitness industry that,” Perlman said.

The Wall Street Journal recently looked at health clubs catering to a consumer demand for office space at the gym. Office space amenities from Equinox, Life Time Fitness, Colorado Athletic Club and Brooklyn Boulders are profiled in the report.

Phanyapad Maha-Udomporn, known as Jyb, is turning his star social media presence into profit with Transfit, a Bangkok gym exclusively for transsexual men and lesbians, according to Public Radio International. The facility is meant to draw in trans men who want to look like Jyb, and women who want to train with him and the all-trans-male staff, according to the report.

Kylie Yeaman, the operations manager at the 24 Hour Fitness in Moraga, California, and two members were recently honored by the Moraga Town Council for saving another member's life earlier this year. The trio used an automatic external defibrillator (AED) to resuscitate the member who collapsed from a sudden heart attack during a workout, according to Lamorinda Weekly.

A mother smashed her car window to retrieve her baby from her hot car outside of a Life Time Fitness in Overland Park, Kansas, on June 22, according to KMBC-9. The woman locked her keys inside the car in what police called an accident.

Current and former Green Bay Packers football players surprised a group of children at the Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Community YMCA on June 17 as part of an intrastate tour, according to the Oshkosh Northwestern.
