Cooper Aerobics Center, Dallas, will begin a $6.5 million renovation to its Cooper Fitness Center in Dallas, the company announced.

The facility will remain open throughout the renovation, which is expected to be completed in March 2013.

The new facility will expand to 54,000 square feet and include a new main entrance, cycle studio, two mind/body studios for yoga and Pilates, a retail boutique, and men’s, women’s and family locker rooms. The renovation also will include Cedars Woodfire Grill, a casual restaurant that serves freshly grilled food.

In addition to cardio and strength equipment, the facility also offers a three-lane indoor track, a basketball court, a heated 25-yard six-lane pool and a full day spa. The entire building will offer free high-speed Wi-Fi to members.

Cooper Aerobics Center, which was founded by Kenneth Cooper, who coined the term aerobics, has a second location at Craig Ranch in McKinney, TX. The company was ranked No. 72 on this year’s Top 100 Health Clubs list with $9.5 million in 2011 revenue.
