LIMA, OH -- An expansion project that will result in an additional 2,000 square feet to the fitness center of the Lima (OH) Family YMCA began Monday. The expansion is the result of the Y’s membership growing by 1,000 people last year, according to the Lima News.
The health and wellness center will expand into a multipurpose room, and the new space will allow for additional treadmills and new equipment, according to the newspaper. The bulk of the project is scheduled to be completed next week.
The Y’s membership is at 9,200, with 1,400 using the facility daily, the newspaper reported.
“I think in these economic times, families are looking for something of value,” Jerry Courtney, president and CEO of the Y, tells the newspaper. “And the YMCA is a place where the entire family can come every day, be together and do something that promotes their own health and wellness and the relationship between each other.”
