PLANO, TX – Four Life Time Fitness members had their Rolex watches stolen from inside the locker room at Life Time Fitness centers in Plano and Allen, TX, bringing the number of reported thefts at Dallas-area Life Time centers to nine over the past two months.

The recent thefts occurred on Sept. 17. In August, five other Life Time members in Plano and Colleyville, TX, reported their Rolex watches were stolen in Life Time locker rooms.

Shawn Watkins was one of the victims in August. Watkins says the Life Time general manager in Plano told him and a fellow victim that the thefts did involve a Life Time employee.

“You randomly choose a locker, none of those are assigned,” Watkins says. “Somebody had to identify myself as wearing a Rolex watch, follow me into the locker room and figure out what locker I was using that day. Mine was unlocked and relocked.”

Jason Thunstrom, director of corporate communications at Life Time Fitness, says the company has been notified of the reported locker thefts and that it has implemented additional measures to its security and surveillance practices. That includes the posting of signage to alert members of the reported thefts and the placement of additional employees to monitor locker room areas.

“Above all, we sincerely regret that the actions of unlawful individuals have impacted members through the theft of personal items,” Thunstrom says. “We will continue to exhaust measures to prevent a recurrence of such activity.”
