* The market for self-improvement books, tapes, seminars and infomercials has grown strongly since 1996, according to The Market For Self-Improvement Products & Services, a 227-page report. Any products that will allow Americans - particularly female baby boomers - to make more money, lose weight, improve relationships, improve business skills, cope better with stress or obtain a quick dose of motivation have been selling at an increasing rate, the study reports. Since many infomercials sell exercise equipment, clubs must now contend with competition from these televised advertisements.
* The Tennis Industry Association (TIA) recently recognized 800 teaching professionals who completed the 10 New Player Program requirements early. The goal of the program is for every teacher to help develop a minimum of 10 new players this year.
