BIG ROCK, IL — Capital Fitness Inc. (CFI), a Midwest independently owned health and fitness company, under its strategic corporate growth plan, will open two additional 45,000- to 50,000-square-foot facilities in the Chicago area in mid and late summer of this year, company officials said. CFI is projecting to have 15 Chicagoland locations by the end of 2003.

CFI's most recent club, XSPORT Fitness & Tan, opened its doors in January 2003. CFI will broaden its market by opening another Chicago-area facility (Lincoln Park) in the former Office Depot location by mid-June. CFI's newest location in Arlington Heights, IL, will open by late summer, the company said.

The company said that the health and fitness clubs will be complemented by health and fitness equipment (including 120 cardio pieces and totaling in excess of 300 pieces of weight equipment), extensive free-weights areas, Olympic-style swimming pools, spas, basketball courts, luxurious saunas and steam rooms, climbing walls and group activity.

Additionally, the clubs will feature clothing and accessories pro shops, personal training centers, sport supplements and weight loss nutrition centers, juice bars, Internet access computer centers and child care centers.

The clubs will also feature approximately 20 private tanning rooms with cutting-edge equipment including an ultraviolet-free tanning system that provides the ultimate tan in just 36 seconds — Mystic Tan.
