Martin Stein is The New chief operating officer of Global Fitness Holdings, which owns and operates 29 Urban Active Health and Fitness Clubs in Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. Stein had been senior vice president of marketing for the company. He will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Lexington, KY-based company's sales operations, marketing and management divisions.
Jeff Jervik is the new president and CEO of Fitness Together Franchise Holdings Inc., succeeding Rick Sikorski, the company's founder, who will become chairman of the board. Jervik will lead the overall strategic direction of the company, including the growth and support of Fitness Together, a personal training fitness franchise, and Elements Therapeutic, a massage therapy franchise.?Together, the franchise network comprises more than 500 franchisees across five countries.
Life Time Fitness recently appointed Scott C. Lutz as its executive vice president and chief marketing officer. Lutz had served as a senior vice president at Best Buy Co. Inc. since 2006 and previously held executive management roles at Procter & Gamble, General Mills and ConAgra. Lutz will be responsible for all marketing operations and will report to Life Time President and CEO Michael Gerend.
Gold's Gym announced it was opening 16 franchise-owned locations last month, including 10 in the United States. One of the six foreign clubs is Gold's Gym's first in Spain.
Cypress Bend Real Estate Development recently announced the development of Stone Creek Club & Spa, a 52,000-square-foot upscale health club in Covington, LA. The club will feature a 4,700-square-foot full-service spa, 12 tennis courts with viewing facilities (six clay HydroCourts and six hard courts), salt-water pools (including a resort-style recreational pool and a six-lane 25-meter lap pool), child care, a café, locker rooms, and spacious fitness and group exercise areas. Stone Creek membership pre-sales will begin in September, and the club is scheduled to open in May 2009.
24 Hour Fitness has formed a marketing partnership with Everlast Worldwide Inc. to provide a boxing fitness class in more than 250 24 Hour Fitness locations. The Everlast Shadow Box Workout will be a 45-minute class consisting of 12 three-minute boxing rounds that alternate between punching combos and conditioning exercises.

Equinox Fitness Clubs has leased 40,000 square feet in a landmark building in the heart of Boston's financial district. The upscale club will open in April 2009 as Equinox's second location in Boston.
