Let's face it: 2001 won't go down as the greatest year in our industry's history. The recession and economic uncertainty cut into consumer spending, which, in turn, cut into memberships sales.
If you're afraid that 2002's business climate will be as equally cold, then you need to heat things up. And what better place to heat things up than the warm, Southwestern destination of Phoenix?
IHRSA 2002, the association's 21st annual international convention and trade show, will be held from March 6 to 9 at the Phoenix Civic Place. Promising plenty of innovation and lots of inspiration, IHRSA's show is the perfect destination for club operators looking to make the most out of 2002.
Fitness professionals interested in adding new products to their facilities will be happy to hear that the show hall will occupy 250,000 square feet of space. Exhibitors will display entire equipment lines, and, in some cases, introduce new models. Best of all, the early morning workouts will allow operators to try out the equipment firsthand — to see how it will fit into their clubs.
In addition to providing an opportunity to shop for new products, IHRSA 2002 will offer an excellent networking opportunity, with more than 70 countries represented at the event. And the educational tracks will provide attendees with information on a variety of topics — from club management and sales to programming and operations.
Many great guest speakers will also be on hand in Phoenix, sharing their thoughts on timely subjects. Expect standing-room only on Saturday, March 9, when Dr. Kenneth Cooper will present “The Role of the Health Club Industry in Addressing America's Health Care Challenges” — a free session open to all attendees.
