Global Fitness Holdings LLC, the largest Gold's Gym franchisee, allied with Rick Pitino, collegiate head basketball coach for the Louisville Cardinals, as Gold's Gym's spokesperson in the Louisville, KY, market, where Gold's has four new clubs underway.

Cybex International moved to the NASDAQ Stock Market from the American Stock Exchange where it had been trading under the symbol CYB since it went public in late May. The company also announced that John McCarthy has joined the Cybex International Board of Directors. McCarthy retired this summer as executive director of the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association, where he had been for 25 years.

MotionSoft Inc's health and fitness division, K.I. Software, is acquiring Tucson-based Computer Outfitters. As a result, K.I. will immediately assume support and development responsibilities for all Computer Outfitters' customers. The combined company will gradually merge K.I.'s eClub and Computer Outfitters CMPlus software product suites. The acquisition will increase the size of K.I. Software's footprint in the industry to more than 1,500 facilities.

Herb Lipsman, formerly chief executive officer of Houstonian Lite Health Clubs, is now president and CEO of The Health Club Co. The new company, based in Sugar Land, TX, specializes in consulting and management services for the health club and spa industries as well as corporate wellness. Plans are also underway to launch a new chain of upscale boutique health clubs serving the Baby Boomer and senior markets in Greater Houston and other major cities.
