PITTSBURGH -- The pregnant instructor who was wounded in the LA Fitness shootings in August has filed suit against the estate of the gunman, George Sodini, who killed three women and wounded eight others.

Mary Primis, and her husband, Alex, filed suit today in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, according to media reports. The couple is seeking at least $175,000 in damages from the estate of Sodini, who took his own life after the rampage. Six other shooting victims, including the family of one woman killed in the attack, have also sued Sodini’s estate.

Primis, who announced to the Latin impact dance class that the Aug. 4 class would be her last because she was 10 weeks pregnant, was shot in both shoulders and was hospitalized for more than a week. The attorneys for Primis say she suffered stress and harm while pregnant and remains in danger of a miscarriage as a result. Primis is due to give birth in March.

“One can’t even begin to imagine the emotional and physical strain this has put on Ms. Primis,” attorney George Kontos told reporters. “The horror of that tragic day will remain with her for a lifetime. Filing this lawsuit is just one step as she continues through her healing process.”
