Health and fitness clubs across the country in the spotlight

  • Those of you who love “Survivor” might just want to head on over to Crunch. The fitness club is hosting a powerful new fitness class loosely based on the TV show. Members complete challenges and compete against one another to be the last one standing at the end of class.

  • The Fitness Edge, a Connecticut-based chain of six fitness clubs, has bought out its leading competitor, a nearby World Gym, to allow the company room to expand its operations and build its first ever “super club.” The new 30,000-square-foot facility cost around $3 million dollars to build. Additionally, Fitness Edge will be upgrading its Fairfield Club location from a 22,000-square-foot location to 30,000 square feet. The expanded club will feature similar layout and programming as the new “super club.”

  • Merrill Lynch, a leading financial service firm, chose New York's Plus One Fitness to design, manage and operate an on-site fitness center at its New York headquarters.
