A Bally Total Fitness club in Florida in operation for almost 24 years is closing.

The Chicago-based company announced that the lease at the West Palm Beach, FL, club has expired.

“After many great years in West Palm Beach, our lease ended and we weren’t able to come to an agreement that would allow us to stay,” the company said in a statement.

The West Palm Beach club’s last day of operation will be Sept. 16, the company confirmed. That leaves Palm Beach County, FL, without a Bally. A club in Boca Raton, FL, closed in 2009.

“Like any company, we are always evaluating our opportunities and leases,” the company said. “We are continuing to grow as a company and we are looking for other opportunities in many markets, so you can look forward to even more locations over time.”

The announcement comes on the heels of last week’s closing of a Bally club in Pleasant Hill, CA, after a long legal battle. A court had terminated the lease at that club in 2008, but Bally had appealed the ruling. Bally’s most recent appeal was thrown out last week, the company said.
