We're no different in the journalism world. We're happy to have Emily Soetaert interning with our franchise this summer. You will start seeing her byline on some of our online and print stories soon. Emily is a journalism student at the University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism, which has won the annual Intercollegiate Writing Competition of the William Randolph Hearst Writing Foundation Awards competition for three years in a row. It also happens to be the alma mater of most of the editorial staff. (Stuart Goldman jumped across the state line to go to the University of Missouri, which has one of the best journalism programs around--but don't let him know I admitted that.)
Emily has been a quick study so far. She just started on Tuesday, and she has already learned how to put together our e-newsletter, edited Step by Step columns and started working on a few stories. She'll be adding entries to our blog, too, so watch for her posts.
