Andrew Wyant, president of the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), was recently recognized as Ernst & Young (EY) Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2014 for the Mountain Desert region. Wyant was selected as a finalist from nearly 100 nominations and is one of just 25 finalists representing leading businesses in Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico.

The esteemed awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in areas including innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

NASM, the nation’s premier certification body for fitness professionals, has increased its revenue 25 percent annually in the past three years with Wyant at the helm. Fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship among more than 30,000 Certified Personal Trainers (CPTs) across the nation has been at the core of NASM and Wyant’s vision.

“As an organization, we are proud of the fact that we are inspiring people to build their own businesses while collectively combating the nation’s growing obesity epidemic,” said Andrew Wyant, president of NASM. “This honor is a career milestone for me and one that I share with the entire NASM team. Our successes would not be possible without their dedication and countless contributions.”

A graduate of the prestigious Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, Wyant previously served as vice president of marketing at LifeLock.

Now in its 28th year, the EY awards program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 145 cities in more than 60 countries throughout the world. Regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year National program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year National Overall Award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California, on November 15, 2014. The awards are the culminating event of the EY Strategic Growth Forum®, the nation’s most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
