Louis Doll pleaded guilty in April to second-degree attempted menacing of a police officer and second-degree menacing, The Buffalo News reported. A State Supreme Court justice sentenced Doll to prison.
The newspaper also reported that after serving the sentence, Doll will have to complete his remaining prison term for his 2008 conviction on attempted first-degree robbery. Doll was on parole at the time of the incident in Planet Fitness.
Doll was seen waving a knife in the front lawn of his house not far from the West Seneca, NY, Planet Fitness shortly after 9 p.m. on Jan. 16. Minutes later, Doll entered the Planet Fitness and began waving the knife in the club, screaming about his mental state. Several members and employees fled the club or into the locker rooms, according to reports. TV station WGRZ obtained video surveillance of Doll's actions in the club.
A West Seneca police officer subdued Doll with a stun gun in the back of the club after the officer warned Doll to drop the knife. No one was injured inside or outside the club.
The Buffalo News reported that Doll had also threatened an employee of a nearby pizzeria that night. From the newspaper:
Before entering the fitness club, Doll had gone into Ferro’s Pizzeria on Seneca Street with the knife and threatened an employee, then pursued him into the kitchen and the parking lot where Doll punched him before fleeing, prosecutors said.
