Peak Pilates®, the leading choice of experienced Pilates professionals worldwide, is debuting their new studio line of reformers and tower system at the 14th Annual  Meeting of the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) in San Diego, CA. The new state of the art collection, the Afina™, is the culmination of more than three years of research and collaboration between designers and instructors.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Afina at the Pilates Method Alliance,” said John Cook, Director of Industrial Design. “This classical line is as inviting to the human eye as it is to the human body, and it was created from the feedback we received from our senior team of Peak Pilates Master Instructors.”

The creation of the Afina began with a two-day event in Boulder, CO.; the birthplace of Peak Pilates. The first symposium of its kind in the Pilates world brought together current and former Peak Pilates Master Instructors (MIs) and industry professionals.  The product design team applied their talents with the MIs unbelievable knowledge of the exercises and uses of the reformer, proper body positioning, the routine, and what was appropriate for the clientele and Pilates environment. The team of designers and instructors addressed everything from the flow of exercises, to proper hand positioning to the cleaning and care of the product.  The result is the new apparatus that focuses truly on the quality of the work and flow. Handcrafted with the systematic, integrative and traditional approach that has made Peak Pilates equipment the preferred choice of Pilates studios worldwide.

The new Afina reformer features include:

  • New sleek posts without metal brackets help to create a clear space, clean look and easy strap placement.
  • Removable three-position headrest for easy cleaning and care.
  • New four-position contoured footbar designed from the ground up for better grasp, connection and joint angle. A classical catching feature provides safety for the user without interrupting flow.
  • A redesigned carriage that provides a structural steel frame increasing stability and features a top surface that is easier to clean and use. Hidden fasteners help to expose the beauty of the work. Removal of the anti-tip carriage is easy and safe due to an extended wheelbase.
  • Coated spring support bar feature on the undercarriage helps to reduce noise from springs.
  • Less is more. Mitered corners, no end grain or fill holes and minimization of screws highlight the elegance.
  • The new, sleek tapered leg provides maximum power and grounding.
  • Gear block with storage position when in negative gear.
  • All carriages are now equipped with a flip mechanism to allow for simple future upgrades to a tower or twin mat system.

The Afina Collection is available in various configurations to accommodate personal preference including:

THE AFINA REFORMER 4

Our most classical reformer comes equipped with leather straps and handles as well as our new resistance ride classical wheels, four traditional springs and a four spring gear bar. The maintenance-free, oil-impregnated bronze bushings cause the wheels to have more drag, providing a classical ride. The four traditional springs, all with the same tension, are designed for optimum flow and movement with no limitation.

THE AFINA REFORMER 5

This model comes with our rope and riser package as well as our standard reformer five spring kit including one heavy spring, two medium springs and two light springs and a five spring gear bar.

Following the reformer redesign, we went on to create an entirely new tower system. This tower provides maximum versatility and expanded exercise options for a total integrated workout that incorporates much of the traditional Cadillac repertoire as well as other functional training exercises. The new tower is made from a proprietary aluminum extrusion and soft contour frame to allow simultaneous use on both the front and back sides.

The tower option features easier spring adjustment; a push-through bar that can be adjusted to three height levels for custom fit; wood inserts to match the reformer and a twin mat system.  Peak Pilates® can accommodate various configuration and customizations including a tower upgrade, interchangeable springs and gear bar, as well as a rope and riser or leather strap option.
