SAN DIEGO -- The American Council on Exercise (ACE) recently announced new executive officers plus the addition of two general members to its board of directors.
Wojtek Chodzko-Zajko was named chairman of the board. He is the head of the department of kinesiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Janet Lee was named vice chair and has been Shape magazine’s deputy editor since 2005.
Lorna Friedman was appointed ACE board’s secretary. She is a senior medical executive at CIGNA International. Herb Flentye was named the board’s new treasurer. He serves as president and CEO at SPRI, a subsidiary of Gaiam.
Newly appointed board members are Kimberly Wells and Scott Murdoch. Wells is a senior international economist/space policy analyst for the Office of Aerospace and Automotive Industries within the U.S. Department of Commerce. Murdoch is co-founder and chief nutrition officer of NutriStyle Inc., a Web-based nutrition and fitness program.
“We feel privileged to continually glean insights and benefit from the collective expertise of distinguished leaders in the health and fitness industry that serve on our board of directors,” says Scott Goudeseune, ACE’s president and CEO. “These individuals share our dedication to the country’s health and well-being and commitment to enriching quality of life through safe and effective exercise.”
The board changes are based on rotation schedules and term limits as determined by ACE’s bylaws, the organization noted.
