CLEARWATER, FL -- The board of directors of HydroMassage named former Town Sports International (TSI) CEO Robert Giardina as its new CEO.

Giardina stepped down as CEO of TSI in October 2007 for personal and health reasons. Giardina, who had been with TSI for 26 years, helped grow the company from four clubs to more than 150 and took the company public in 2006. He was replaced by Alex Alimanestianu.

“Our search for a new leader to grow the HydroMassage brand has been focused and thorough,” HydroMassage President Paul Lunter said in a statement. “We established a broad field of talented candidates, and Bob was clearly our top choice. We’re delighted to have him join our company.”

HydroMassage, a product of JTL Enterprises Inc., was established in 1989. In addition to fitness clubs, HydroMassage beds are found in tanning salons, day and medical spas, and hotels.

“Having spent so much of my career building a successful fitness club company, it’s been enlightening for me to view this industry from the eyes of an equipment manufacturer,” Giardina said in a statement. “After considering a number of other opportunities, HydroMassage was the best fit for me. HydroMassage has been successful for over 20 years in the medical industry, and I am looking forward to expanding its reach within the fitness industry. I believe HydroMassage can help solve many of the issues currently facing the health and wellness industry, including member service and member acquisition.”
