WASHINGTON, DC - Taking another step towards developing physical activity guidelines as announced in October, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is developing a physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee. Beginning in June, the committee will meet three times over one year to review scientific literature that could help them develop specific physical activity recommendations. The recommendations would be gathered in a report that would be sent to the secretary of HHS. The committee will also recommend areas for further scientific research.
HHS is taking nominations for the committee until Feb. 21. Nominations may be submitted by electronic mail to PA.guidelines@hhs.gov. To read more about the committee and nominations, visit http://www.health.gov/paguidelines.
