GAINESVILLE, FL -- Joe Cirulli, owner of Gainesville (FL) Health & Fitness Center, has opened a new facility in Tioga, FL. This two-level, interior fit-out is a coed fitness center and serves as a compliment to the original club.

This 25,000-square-foot fitness center combines traditional physical fitness programs with a state-of-the-art medical spa. The program consists of multiple group fitness, cardiovascular, child care, weight training, locker rooms, lounge and support spaces for administrative functions.

The design strategy was to develop an overall concept for this chain, rather than copy each club design and repeat it, says Rudy Fabiano, design director at Fabiano Designs, the architect for this project.

“We find that members respond better when the club has its own distinct look,” Fabiano says. “The original club is sportier and has a broader range of demographics. The Tioga Center has a modern and more feminine feel, which compliments the original club. Going into an original building with an abundance of natural light is something we want to take full advantage of. We want to create a modern light-filled environment that members respond to extremely well.”

According to Debbie Lee, the marketing director at Gainesville Health & Fitness, “[The] one thing that drives us as a company is to create an experience that is similar to that of a country club, to create an environment that is enhanced by its social elements. The center that we anchor is the most modern and aesthetically pleasing center in our region. It includes Starbucks and a new array of very modern restaurants, wine bar, etc. It gives our members the opportunity to make all these connected elements part of their visit to the club.”

Membership has grown above the initial estimates, Lee says.
