Coliseum Sports Brings It Home

GA — Coliseum Sports Inc., the “Home Depot” of sports and fitness centers, opened its doors last month. Started by Home Depot executive, Eric Johnson, the complex fulfills his dream of opening a unique sports complex, according to the company. Johnson and partners, Rick Leibe, Brandon Smith, Susanna Porter, Barry Forrest and Steve Smalt designed the facility with a passion for teaching youth about the true meaning of sports. They are dedicated to developing the principles that create great leaders, superior athletes and bright minds, helping to build stronger families.

The complex offers 53,000 square feet of amenities for sports-oriented families, including batting cages, golf simulators, cheerleading competition spring floor, sporting goods store, a homework/study area with Internet connection and a video arcade and vending area, and more.

Of course, there will also be a 1,700-square-foot fitness area with what the company termed an “extensive assortment” of free weights, cardiovascular, and resistance equipment for training. There will also be Men's and Women's locker rooms with saunas.

EVP of Sports Development, Brandon Smith, will oversee the professional instruction and has recruited former major league baseball players from teams such as the Braves, Astros, Pirates, A's, and the Mets. Individuals can receive one-on-one training with certified batting, cheerleading, soccer, and weight trainers. In addition to instruction, leadership development programs, designed to improve players, parents' and coach's performance, will also be available and include programs such as Team Building, Teen Leadership, Parenting your Athlete, Team Management/Coaching, Decision-Making and Time Management.
