MOUNT PLEASANT, MI -- Taking its cue from TV’s “The Biggest Loser,” a Central Michigan University residence hall complex began a “Battle of the Shrinking Halls” contest this week to determine which hall can lose the highest percentage of weight in a five-week period.
All residents of the Towers complex and its employees are eligible for the contest, which runs through Feb. 29, according to Central Michigan Life.
“We’re all just trying to start off with a clean slate, with a brand new year to motivate each other and move together,” university recreation graduate assistant Chris J.L. Dillon told the student newspaper.
Participants must weigh in each Monday during the competition in the Towers Fitness Center to receive credit. The amount of pounds lost will be added up weekly, with the weight-loss percentage sent to each hall, the newspaper reported.
All participants will receive a towel with the contest logo on it as well as a pedometer. The winning hall competitors will receive free T-shirts with the logo on it, a plaque for the hall and a party.
