Barry LeCerf Named Publisher of Club Industry

Magazine bids farewell to former publisher Terry Moffatt.

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. — Primedia Business Magazines & Media, the parent company of Club Industry magazine, has named Barry LeCerf as the new publisher of Club Industry. LeCerf, a 12-year Primedia veteran, replaces Terry Moffatt, who resigned as Club Industry's publisher/editorial director last month to pursue another business opportunity.

“For more than eight years, it's been a great privilege to be a member of the Club Industry team,” said Moffatt, who joined Club Industry as editor in 1993. “All of the editors, account executives and support staff have worked very hard to provide our readers with the most relevant business-building information, as well as providing a vital communication link between fitness facility operators and the suppliers of related products and services. I am confident that with Barry's leadership, Club Industry will continue to be the leading business magazine for health and fitness facility management.”

“As the former editor, Terry was a great teacher during the last three years,” said Jerry Janda, who became editor-in-chief in 1998. “And as publisher, he brought many excellent initiatives to the magazine. While I'm sorry to see him go, I welcome the opportunity to work with Barry, who brings a wealth of publishing expertise to Club Industry.”

With more than 25 years of experience in business publishing, LeCerf has garnered a number of national editorial awards during his career, including the prestigious Neal Award (the top award for trade publishing). “Barry's commitment to editorial quality and to building readership will help take Club Industry to a new level,” said Brian Agnes, Primedia Business Magazine group vice president.

Said LeCerf, “I am very enthused about joining the Club Industry staff and continuing the important work begun by Terry Moffatt, Jerry Janda and the members of the CI staff.

“I look forward to talking with you, our readers and advertisers, about the daunting challenges that club owners and operators face in the upcoming years,” LeCerf continued. “I am interested in receiving your feedback and comments about Club Industry magazine and how we can make it work for you, and I am eager to welcome each of you to our Club Industry shows and events in the coming months.”
