Peterson AFB Buys New Fitness Assessment Equipment

The Health and Wellness Center (HAWC) at Peterson Air Force Base, CO, has purchased a number of state-of-the-art tools designed to assess the fitness levels of the base’s enlisted and civilian employees.

The HAWC’s new equipment includes a gait analysis system, which is used to help runners develop proper form and reduce injuries; a cardio-pulmonary exercise testing unit that determines the user’s ideal anaerobic and baseline training zones; and a Bod Pod, manufactured by Cosmed Inc., Rome, Italy, which tests body composition.

The new assessment tools were purchased with $62,000 in “quality of life funds,” which HAWC received from U.S. Northern Command, according to an Air Force public affairs statement.
