FORT STEWART, GA -- About 200 Army soldiers and their families participated in the 12th annual Aerobathon held last month at the Newman Fitness Center at Fort Stewart (GA) and Hunter Army Airfield. Designed to help people stick to their New Year’s resolutions to lose weight, the event featured hip-hop dancing, kick boxing, step aerobics, Pilates, tai chi, belly dancing, salsa and Zumba moves.
"When everyone is out making a New Year's resolution to lose weight, this event presents alternatives to fitness," says Jake Battle, directorate of Morale Welfare and Recreation fitness activities supervisor. "The key for everyone here is to come out, have a great time and get a good workout."
A nutritional counselor from Fort Stewart was on hand to provide counseling about healthy food choices, and a personal trainer offered consultations about effective workouts. Participants also could take part in a body-fat analysis or blood pressure readings.
