One of the biggest software companies in the fitness club industry will have a new name at this week's International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) conference and trade show in Las Vegas.

Club Solutions from Fiserv Inc., Brookfield, WI, was acquired last week by Jonas Software, Toronto. The Club Solutions from Fiserv business assets are now part of a new company called Jonas Fitness Inc.

Adam Zeitsiff, who also serves as the business unit manager for the fitness, sports and leisure division of Jonas Software in North America, is the president of Jonas Fitness Inc. and will be responsible for executing all aspects of the company's future growth and expansion. Zeitsiff declined to disclose the terms of the deal, but he did say that negotiations took place over the past two quarters.

"Jonas Fitness has a buy and hold forever strategy," Zeitsiff tells Club Industry. "You won't be interviewing somebody in four years saying Jonas Fitness is now blank. We're a software company first. We're going to mold this company's products into even better software over the next few years."

Zeitsiff says the booth at the IHRSA show will have joint branding to reflect the change in the company's name. The name change also will be present Thursday night at the Bash for Augie's Quest. The lanyards for exhibitor and attendee badges will still have the Fiserv name on them, Zeitsiff adds.

"It was important to get [the deal] done prior [to the IHRSA show]," Zeitsiff says. "It's a very important show for us."

Jonas Fitness, which will continue to serve the mid- to large-club market, has a new website, www.jonasfitness.com, which will be enhanced over the next few weeks, Zeitsiff says. Jonas Fitness employees are in Houston, Ohio and New York, he adds.

Another company in the fitness, sports and leisure division of Jonas Software is EZ Facility, Bethpage, NY, which Jonas acquired in 2009. Other industries Jonas works with include golf and private clubs, food service, construction management and attractions. Jonas has more than 25,000 customers in 15 countries.

“Club Solutions from Fiserv has established itself as a leader in providing fully integrated enterprise software and payment solutions in the fitness, sports and leisure industry," Barry Symons, CEO of Jonas, said in a statement. "Adding Club Solutions to our rapidly growing fitness, sports and leisure business unit further strengthens our place in this important market, and we are very excited to welcome the Club Solutions customers and employees to our organization."

Fiserv acquired what was then known as CheckFree in 2007 for $4.4 billion and changed the name of the company to Club Solutions in 2009. CheckFree was founded in 1981 in Columbus, OH.

"Club Solutions pioneered management software for the health club industry, and has a talented team of associates who are committed to the success of club clients,” Jardon Bouska, division president of biller solutions at Fiserv, said in a statement. "We believe the clients and associates of Club Solutions will be well-served by Jonas Software's focus on the health and fitness industry."
