Olympic Advice for Inspired Athletes

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — After two weeks of watching world-class athletes win gold medals, health clubs may find themselves with a glut of newly inspired or reinspired members who may want to take up more strenuous physical activities and sports. Health club staff may want to refer them to “Nutrition for Athletes,” a guide to eating for health and performance.

The booklet was launched by the International Olympic Committee and its Medical Commission and is based on the International Consensus Conference.

The booklet warns against the dangers of using dietary supplements indiscriminately, gives post-recovery snack suggestions and strategies for high-energy eating. You can download the guide at: http://www.olympic.org.
