* Polar Electro Inc. has named Philippe Duleyrie president. Former president Burt Binbaum has been promoted to vice president of International Business Development, a unit of Finland-based parent Polar Electro OY. In addition, Polar has promoted Tom McCoy from vice president of Polar Electro's business-to-business division to senior vice president.
* Life Fitness has appointed David Gibbons vice president of marketing. He is responsible for all global marketing efforts and strategic branding of Life Fitness and Hammer Strength. He also oversees the marketing communications, market research and product management departments.
* Gilbert Ruiz, owner/operator of Lifestyles 2000 and Better Bodies health clubs, has joined Hoggan Health Industries as an outside consultant on the CamStar selectorized equipment line. He will participate in design and engineering of new machines and contribute modifications and refinements of current strength machines. He will also contribute expertise to Hoggan's sales staff, training and discussing features from a customer's point of view while answering questions as a source for prospects.
* Arlington Heights, Ill.-based Power Wellness Management has appointed Robyn Kove to the position of director of marketing. The company specializes in creating, developing and managing hospital-based fitness and wellness centers.
* Michael Mahoney has become the national tennis director for Tennis Corp. of America (TCA). In addition to his new duties, Mahoney will continue to hold the position of TCA regional vice president, overseeing the operation of 14 TCA clubs.
* Following John Gibbons' resignation as president and CEO, The Sports Club Co. named D. Michael Talla (chairman) and Rex A. Licklider (vice chairman) as interim co-CEOs. They are the two largest individual shareholders of the company. The company has no immediate plan to hire an additional executive officer.
* Nirvana Athletic & Fitness Center, based in Bristol, Pa., has added Dr. John H. Bryman to its sports rehab/chiropractic care program, operated by American Rehab Chiropractic.
