Winners of the Healthy Horizon Awards
Honored at Club Industry '99
CHICAGO - The Cascade Athletic Clubs and Sunnyside Presbyterian
Retirement received the first-ever Healthy Horizon Awards at Club
Industry '99. Sponsored by the Keiser Institute on Aging in
collaboration with Club Industry and Continuum magazines,
the Healthy Horizon Awards recongize a commercial fitness facility and
a senior residence community for innovation and quality in fitness and
wellness programs for older adults.
During the trade show, Keiser officials congratulated representatives from the winning organizations.
Jury Finds in Favor of
Precor
SEATTLE - A jury here has awarded Precor Inc. $5.25 million in damages
for willful infringement of its treadmill design patent by Life
Fitness. The jury also found that Life Fitness competed unfairly in the
marketing of its cushioned deck treadmills. Finally, the jury found
that Life Fitness's cushioned deck treadmill was limited to a 1991
filing date, which meant that Precor's treadmills could not have
infringed it.
Supplier Personnel Changes* Mark S. Johnson has been promoted to the newly created position
of vice president, operations, for CheckFree's health and fitness
division, which develops, sells and supports integrated club management
and EFT solutions. Johnson, who joined the company in 1995, was vice
president of network communications and distribution services at the
time of his promotion.
