• Larry Hohl is the new president and CEO of Spectrum Clubs Inc. Additionally, Mike Mullen was appointed to senior vice president of business development.

• Life Time Fitness has appointed Bruce Fabel to the position of chief operating officer (COO). Fabel will work under CEO Bahram Akradi, and will oversee Life Time's accounting, business and facilities operations, marketing communications, entertainment, sponsorship, human resources and information technology divisions.

• Stephen A. Black is the new director of the Health & Fitness Institute (Conn.), part of the Stamford Health System. Black will oversee the operations of the Health & Fitness Institute at its current Canal Street location and the pre-opening events that lead up to the opening of the Institute at the Tully Health Center on Strawberry Hill in February 2002. Black worked previously as a health and fitness industry consultant in Colorado.

• Sharla Lakstigala is the new fitness floor supervisor at Courts Plus in the Elmhurst Park District, Elmhurst, Ill. In her new position, Lakstigala will be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, supervising, and evaluation fitness department day-to-day operations and services.
