Air Force Runs Marathon

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, OH — The Wright-Patterson Air Force base was busier than normal in September as officials sponsored the 10th anniversary U.S. Air Force (USAF) Marathon on Sept. 16 in Dayton, OH.

The marathon had its largest year ever. More than 4,700 runners from all over the world registered for the race and more than 1,500 local volunteers helped out during the week, says Molly Louden, USAF Marathon director.

The event also featured a Sports & Fitness Expo, gourmet pasta dinner, celebrity runners Bill Rodgers and Alberto Salazar, a Marathon and Half Marathon Pace Team, A-10 flyover and aircraft static displays.
