Membership Advisor - Renaissance Athletic Club - Benton Harbor, MI
Membership Advisors play a key role in the club’s and company’s overall success by:
- Achieving and exceeding membership sales and revenue goals and selling ancillary services.
- Advising members and guests on programs that will help them meet their long and short term health and fitness goals.
- Providing members and guests with legendary service and enhancing their sense of belonging and community within the club.
In addition to the primary roles and responsibilities described within, each member of the Membership Team embraces and follows the guidelines outlined in our Service Standards and plays a vital role in the success of the department, club and company. Members of the Membership Team always represent the company while they are in the clubs and must maintain a professional manner in dealing with fellow staff, members and guests. They must display a helpful and positive attitude, and assist other departments when necessary.
Key Responsibilities

Achieve financial performance results through generating new memberships and ancillary service sales.
- Achieve or exceed individual membership sales goals by generating referrals, converting inquiries (phone/web) into appointments and following up with and closing prospects.
- Implement and adhere to all steps of the Renaissance Athletic Club (RAC) sales process including assessing the needs of prospective members, providing a value based presentation of the RAC brand, programs and services, leading an enthusiastic and informative tour, presenting membership/service options and prices and closing sales.
- Help integrate new members into the club by scheduling their complimentary sessions at the point of sale
- Actively develop leads through a variety of activities including telephone, internet, community outreach and partnerships, corporate visits, referrals and special events.
- Utilize the lead tracking system to manage sales leads and member service and ensure all data related to prospects and members is inputted correctly and in a timely manner.
- Attend and participate in department, club and company meetings, member functions, outside marketing events, and the planning and implementation of promotions.
- Know your competition and use that information to make suggestions or changes that enable your club to be “best in class” and achieve results.

Create a customer service focused environment that is friendly, welcoming, and supportive
- Ensure superior customer service by sustaining a culture, through actions and example, wholly committed to listening to members and guests, understanding their needs, and exceeding their expectations.
- Create and deepen relationships with members and enhance their sense of belonging and community within the club by reaching out to members in person and by phone and email. (Check in with members by making approximately 20 member calls per day and connecting with at least 10 of them.)
- Deal with member issues proactively, “own” member problems that arise and solve those issues.
- Handle upgrades and cancellations, always doing your best to “save” a membership whenever possible.
- Adhere to the guidelines set forth in our Service Standards.

Contribute to the effective and efficient running of the day-to-day operations of the clubs and company.
- Work as part of the overall team by respecting, supporting, and encouraging your co-workers, pitching in and assisting co-workers and other departments, and approaching challenges in a creative, positive, and team centered manner.
- Be proficient in all club software systems (Twin Oaks Management Suite).
- Follow all club policies and procedures.
- Attend all meetings, special events, education sessions to learn and provide feedback and share ideas on improving and building all aspects of the business.

Work Schedule
This is a full-time hourly position. Your daily schedule will vary throughout the week depending on the needs of the club, the staff, and the members. Your hours will include prime time hours and some weekends and holidays. Special events, promotions, and other demands will require some early mornings and late nights.

Experience, Knowledge and Education
- A passion for health and wellness and the ability to influence people in overcoming their obstacles to exercising, joining a fitness club, and in making lifestyle changes.
- Enjoys networking and building relationships - comfortable on the phone and doing outreach in the community.
- Commitment to providing top notch customer service and some experience working in a fast paced customer service role.
- Computer-savvy and proficient in using programs such as Word & Excel.
- Team player who approaches challenges in a creative and positive manner.
- 3 -5 years’ experience in a sales environment with proven goal performance (preferably in a membership based business)
- 2 or 4 year degree from an accredited college or university

The Wellness Director (WD) is a member of Renaissance Athletic Club (RAC) management team and plays a key role in the company's overall success by leading and managing the club's health and fitness programming which includes personal training, group training, pilates, member integration and support. The WD is responsible for:
- Impacting member service and retention by delivering excellence through quality, cutting-edge programming that is safe, supports member's efforts to reach their goals and provides exceptional member experiences.

Serve as a role model and manage the day-to-day operations of a club's Wellness programming
- Cultivate and lead a positive, team-centered work environment that delivers on company goals.
- Hire, train, manage, and develop a high quality team of Wellness professionals that enables them to reach their full potential.
- Review and evaluate staff performance constructively through informal and formal performance management mechanisms.
- Create communication mechanisms for staff that enables two-way dialogue and provides them with timely and accurate information pertaining to company and club goals, programs, promotions, and policies.
- Manage an efficient Wellness department whereby day-to-day operations run smoothly, company-wide policies are followed consistently, and problems are resolved in an effective and timely manner.
- Create staff schedules that guarantee there is appropriate coverage by the Wellness team.
- Maintain and process all paperwork associated with members, staff or club operations completely and ensures information is entered in the appropriate systems accurately.
- Be proficient in appropriate club software systems (Twin Oaks Management Suite).
- Oversee ancillary service programs and ensure they achieve revenue goals.
- Know your competition and use that information to make suggestions or changes that enable your club to be “best in class”.
- Develop and implement member communications initiatives that increase member retention, satisfaction and participation in revenue producing services.
- Ensure superior customer service by sustaining a culture, through leadership and example, wholly committed to listening to members and guests, understanding their needs, and exceeding their expectations.
- Manage all controllable expenses to ensure that the department stays within budget.
- Creation and compliance with an annual budget approved by the General Manager
- Ensure the Wellness team takes an active role in keeping current in their fields and are well trained and knowledgeable about their jobs, the company, and our services.
- Ensure that all members of the Wellness team keep current with the appropriate certifications, (i.e. PT, CPR/AED).
- Cross train staff so that they are always “stage ready” and available to help members and guests no matter what their job.

Maintain a safe, clean and esthetically-appealing physical plant environment
- Ensure all equipment is working and operating and if it is not working, get it repaired in a timely manner.
- Notify the maintenance when physical repairs are needed and serve as an advocate for getting these issues resolved.
- Maintain and implement equipment cleaning schedule and overall maintenance checklist.

Salary
The Renaissance Athletic Club offers a competitive salary including base salary plus commission. Wellness Director will be offered the opportunity to retain a defined number of personal clients to supplement earnings.
The Renaissance Athletic club offers a benefits package including health insurance, CEU reimbursement and travel accommodations for one national convention per year.
