Irons Fitness, located at 7700 Wisconsin Avenue, in the Bethesda Place courtyard, is offering free personal training sessions to those affected by the government shutdown. Interested furloughed federal employees, military, or government contractors can call the studio at (301) 530-9236 to schedule a training session.

“All of us at Irons Fitness understand the impact the government shutdown is having on our friends and neighbors in the Bethesda area. We want to help in the best way we know possible – by giving the gift of fitness. Any furloughed employees, can come in for free personal training sessions until the furlough is over.” – Nick Irons, owner, Irons Fitness

Voted by the readers of Bethesda Magazine as a top new gym, Irons Fitness provides one-on-one personal fitness training, semi-private personal training, and nutritional counseling.

Irons Fitness has created a space outfitted with the finest equipment made today. This includes: Keiser Strength Equipment, Keiser bikes, Woodway Treadmills, Precor Ellipticals, TRX suspension trainers, and Matrix Krankcycles. This is the same equipment used by NFL, NBA, NHL and Major League Baseball teams. Why does this matter? Because it allows clients to get the safest, most effective, most efficient workout possible.

The studio is founded by Nick Irons, personal trainer, author, and ultra-endurance athlete. Nick made national headlines when he became the first person in 70 years to swim the length of the Mississippi River and the first to swim it with the locks and dams of its "modern" form. His 1,550-mile swim was to raise national awareness and funding for multiple sclerosis (MS) research, the disease his dad lives with. He continued his mission on behalf of MS by completing a 10,000 mile bike ride around the perimeter of the United States.

He is joined by a "dream team" of trainers, including Kim Teri, who was voted Bethesda's Best Personal Trainer 2008 & 2010 by Bethesda Magazine, Paul Davis, a former professional football player, Robert Terri who combines his extensive experience and expertise in health, dance and fitness to train, teach and develop elite fitness programs, David Taylor who is a former World Champion Powerlifter and a European and World Record Holder in the deadlift, Marcia Liegey, one of the best trainers in the business, and Ken Yazge who in addition to being a great trainer is a lifelong volunteer firefighter.

Together they have over 25 years of combined experience. Several have advanced degrees in exercise science. All hold advanced certifications. They have been nationally ranked athletes. And they have been featured in nearly every form of media in the country, including: The Today Show, Good Morning America, ESPN, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Washingtonian, and Bethesda Magazine.
