NEW YORK -- Six manufacturers and suppliers to the fitness industry made the Inc. 500 and 5000 lists this year. The lists, which also include eight health club companies, appear in the September issue of Inc.
The 2010 Inc. lists were ranked according to percentage revenue growth for three years from 2006 to 2009.
Ranking highest on the list was Fitness Anywhere, San Francisco, at No. 108. The company had $14.7 million in 2009 revenue, a 2,297 percent growth rate over the past three years. This is the first year the company, which sells the TRX Suspension Trainer, is on the list. The company ranked No. 6 in the Consumer Products and Services category.
Next on the list was Fitness Plus (FitnessRepairParts.com), O’Fallon, MO. The company, which sells replacement parts for fitness equipment, ranked No. 363 on the list with $2.4 million in 2009 revenue. It had a three-year growth of 816 percent.
Mindbody, San Luis Obispo, CA, ranked No. 799 with three-year growth of 378 percent and 2009 revenue of $8.2 million. On last year’s list, the web-based business management and appointment-scheduling software company ranked No. 370.
Software company Motionsoft, Silver Spring, MD, ranks No. 1,172 on the list. Its 2009 revenue was $6.3 million, which was an increase of 253 percent since 2006. The company recently received an infusion of $5.5 million from Edison Venture Fund, Lawrenceville, NJ, for research and development and for expansion.
Heartline Fitness Systems, Gaithersburg, MD, ranked No. 3,166 on the list. The company, which designs and manufactures strength training and cardio equipment, had $3.8 million in 2009 revenue and 63 percent growth from 2006 to 2009. The company had been on the list in the past, ranking No. 3,180 in 2009, No. 3,526 in 2008 and No. 3,913 in 2007.
Big Ass Fan Co., Lexington, KY, ranked No. 4,245 on this year’s list. The large fan manufacturer had a three-year growth of 26 percent, coming in at $33.8 million in 2009 revenue. The company ranked No. 2,497 on the list in 2009, No. 1,603 in 2008 and No. 1,371 in 2007.
