SPRING CITY, PA -- World Fitness Systems Inc., Spring City, PA, is launching an online competitive training program in January, the company announced. The program allows users to participate in a global fitness competition via Internet data collection and rankings. Participants are ranked in various categories according to their performance in gym-based exercises.

The World Fitness Test provides a regimen of athletic events that can be performed on most fitness equipment. Via the World Fitness System web site, participants’ test results are automatically compared with others according to age, gym, weight and other criteria. Members can compete against family or friends across the country without ever leaving their gym.

Athletes are placed into one of four divisions, determined by their test performance and overall point compilation during each test. The company will release four tests in 2009, each more demanding than the last to help improve members’ fitness.

Starting in July, World Fitness Systems will host regional and world events. Any member who completed all four tests will be eligible to compete in their regional competition. The top-ranked participants at all regional competitions will be invited to the world event in late August, where contestants compete for cash prizes and awards.

Tests are administered at gyms that record individual performances. Participants then log onto the Web site, www.worldfitsystems.com, to view their profile, performance and rankings. Members can also receive a monthly newsletter with tips and stories on fitness and nutrition.
