VANCOUVER, WA -- After experiencing revenue losses for the last several quarters, Nautilus Inc. announced plans today to consolidate its U.S. manufacturing and distribution facilities.

Nautilus will close its Tulsa, OK, facilities by the end of 2008 and transfer the manufacturing of its products to its facility in Independence, VA. The closing will reportedly affect 140 people. The company does not plan to eliminate any major product lines as a result of the consolidation, according to a company statement.

Nautilus distribution also will be consolidated into its two centers located in Independence, VA, and Portland, OR. The company is in the process of determining the costs of the planned consolidation and will disclose more information during its July 31 earnings conference call.

“By streamlining these functions, it supports our restructuring activity to provide better efficiency in our manufacturing processes and better service for our customers,” Tim Joyce, Nautilus senior vice president and general manager, said in the statement.

In February, Nautilus announced that it would be transitioning a call center in Winnipeg, Canada, to the company's headquarters in Vancouver, WA. In a call with investors and analysts in April, Bill Meadowcroft, Nautilus' chief financial officer, said that the uncertain consumer environment would continue to affect the company in the second quarter.
