SILVER SPRING, MD -- Motionsoft Inc. has been granted Level 1 Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards (DSS) certification, making it one of a handful of software vendors in the health and wellness space that has been granted PCI compliance.

The PCI Standard is the result of a collaborative effort among the five major credit card companies (Visa International, MasterCard Worldwide, American Express, Discover Financial Services and JCB) to safeguard sensitive data and prevent credit card fraud, hacking and various other security concerns. Any merchant, organization or software that processes, stores or disseminates credit card data must be PCI DSS compliant or risk hefty fines and/or losing the ability to process credit cards altogether.

“This success follows significant efforts by the Motionsoft team to make changes in our systems and processes to meet the PCI Data Security Standards (DSS) requirements,” Motionsoft President and CEO Al Noshirvani said in a statement from the company. “We understand that clubs and hospitals put their businesses at great risk if due diligence is not practiced and steps are not taken to protect cardholder and member data. In our ongoing focus on our club success, we want to assure our clients that, not only are we compliant with the PCI DSS standard, but we take a very active approach to operational risk management.”
