ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- After four years as the Les Mills South East distributor, Lifestyle Family Fitness has sold the business to Les Mills International, Auckland, New Zealand. Lifestyle had been the southeastern U.S. distributor of the Les Mills pre-choreographed group exercise programs.
Les Mills International will retain the Les Mills South East staff and will continue serving the region's existing customers using the Les Mills South East name.
“The Southeast territory is hugely important to us and offers Les Mills significant potential for further U.S. growth,” LMI CEO Phillip Mills said in a statement.
In the four years that Lifestyle owned the distributorship, it increased the number of Les Mills licensees by more than 65 percent. Les Mills South East now serves more than 280 facilities in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
“We are proud of the growth and level of support we have achieved over the last four years,” Lifestyle Family Fitness Founder Geoff Dyer says. “We look forward to seeing our team contribute to the future success and growth of LMI nationwide.”
Even though Lifestyle sold the distributorship last month, it will continue to offer Les Mills programs in its clubs.
More than 13,000 facilities worldwide license Les Mills group fitness classes.
According to the company, members who participate in Les Mills classes use the club an average of 3.75 times per week versus 1.5 times per week for the average health club member.
