Schiller Park, IL — Life Fitness, Schiller Park, IL, has promoted Tim McCarthy to vice president of the international business unit and has promoted Mike Zinda to replace McCarthy as vice president of sales for national accounts and Latin America.

McCarthy joined Life Fitness in 1991 as a military sales representative and brings many years of sales experience in the fitness industry to the position. Since joining the company, McCarthy has held sales and management positions in the athletic, consumer, education, government, hospitality and commercial dealer segments of the business.

Prior to joining Life Fitness, McCarthy was the athletic director at the Naval Station Great Lakes in North Chicago, IL.

"[McCarthy] understands our customers' needs, and I am confident that he will grow the international business," says John Stransky, president of Life Fitness.

Zinda most recently served as the vice president of sales for national accounts. He brings 23 years of sales experience within the fitness industry to his new role. Zinda joined Life Fitness as a national sales representative immediately after his graduation from the University of Minnesota in 1985. Since then, he has held sales and management positions within the company.

Raj Rao, who had been vice president of the international business unit, is relocating to Asia to be closer to his family.

In other news, Life Fitness recently opened a company-branded store in São Paulo, Brazil. Life Fitness products became available in Brazil in 1990, and in 1999, the company designated São Paulo as one of its subsidiaries.

"There is room for growth in the Brazilian market, and this store is expected to provide customers with a unique opportunity to try and experience Life Fitness products firsthand," Stransky says.
