CHICAGO -- More than 1,000 people kicked off their summer by joining free open-air Les Mills group exercise classes at Chicago’s Millennium Park. The classes, presented by Les Mills Midwest, were held on four successive Saturdays in June.
This is the second straight year that Les Mills has participated in Chicago’s summer fitness program at Millennium Park.
“These events are a great opportunity to show fitness as a fun, social activity that people can integrate into their daily lives,” says Les Mills Midwest CEO Sara Kooperman. “It’s so important for our industry to ‘take fitness through the streets’ and reach out to people who may not have ever been inside a gym.”
Attendance averaged more than 250 and topped 300 on two Saturdays.
The Les Mills classes are part of open-air fitness classes every weekend throughout the summer, sponsored by McDonald’s, the Lakeshore Athletic Club and the Mayor’s Fitness Council in Chicago.
