SCHILLER PARK, IL -- Royal Caribbean International, Miami, chose Life Fitness, Schiller Park, IL, to supply equipment for its new Oasis of the Seas ship.
Billed as “the largest cruise ship to ever set sail” by the company, the Oasis featuers an 11,400-square-foot fitness center for guests and a 2,600-square-foot fitness facility for the crew. Royal Caribbean installed 30 Life Fitness Elevation Series treadmills, 18 ellipticals and 11 exercise bikes in the passenger fitness center.
“Fitness is becoming an integral part of the cruise experience, so we needed to build a facility that would impress our guests,” Joe Schlipman, director, onboard revenue, Royal Caribbean International, said in a statement. “Life Fitness offered products that were durable, fit for heavy usage and innovative. With their support, we selected exactly the type of high-end, durable, fitness equipment our guests expect from us.”
The ship has a maximum capacity of 5,400 passengers and 2,100 crew members. It also features 21 swimming pools and whirlpools, an ice rink and a water theme park.
