Schiller Park, IL — Club operators can once again purchase their RevMaster Pro group cycling bikes from Life Fitness, Schiller Park, IL. Life Fitness and LeMond Fitness Inc., Woodinville, WA, resolved their summer-long dispute and litigation involving the RevMaster Pro bikes last month, the companies announced.
In late May, Brunswick Corp., Lake Forest, IL, which owns Life Fitness, filed a civil lawsuit in Illinois seeking $3.9 million in damages related to the distribution of LeMond Fitness' RevMaster bikes. Life Fitness has had the exclusive rights to sell the RevMaster bikes since 2002.
According to the suit, Life Fitness received hundreds of customer complaints about RevMaster handlebars, seats and pedals since early 2008 and had spent more than $225,000 on warranty and service work because of the problems. Those issues, including Life Fitness' claim that it lost customers during this time because of the RevMaster Pros, prompted the company to terminate its distribution agreement with LeMond Fitness in May.
LeMond Fitness denied the allegations and filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking more than $1 million in damages for early termination of the distribution agreement.
Under the terms of the resolution announced last month, Life Fitness will again sell the RevMaster Pro group exercise bike and provide service and support for customers.
Neither company provided more details about the resolution of the dispute, including whether compensation was given to either company.
LeMond Fitness also makes RevMaster Sport models and a G Force line of upright and recumbent bikes.
