ZX Fitness recently closed one of its clubs but has plans to open a new club in the spring in the Charlotte, NC, area.
Charlotte-based ZX Fitness, which offers memberships as low as $10 a month, closed its Harrisburg, NC, club on Jan. 21. In a letter to members sent before the closure, President Ron Poliseno said that the company was unable to sign a new lease with the landlord of the building that housed the club. ZX Fitness upgraded Harrisburg memberships to the company’s Metro memberships, which include access to all club locations, group fitness classes and two personal training sessions.
ZX Fitness says it will make a formal announcement about its new club opening sometime in February.
A report by a Charlotte TV station earlier this month said that the company, formerly known as Peak Fitness, was under investigation by the Attorney General’s office and received member complaints from the Better Business Bureau regarding billing practices and closing clubs with no notice to members. (The report no longer is on the station’s website.) ZX Fitness says the company’s membership services department has contacted both offices to resolve any outstanding issues and has a meeting scheduled with the Charlotte Better Business Bureau in early February to resolve current issues.
