Lexington, KY — The Urban Active brand, started by former Gold's Gym franchisee Royce Pulliam, turned 1 year old last month. In the past year, Urban Active has opened nine locations to bring its total number of clubs to 32, and Pulliam says he has numerous locations in the design-and-construction pipeline.
"Our first year of operations with our new brand Urban Active has been a rewarding one that far exceeded our expectations," Pulliam says. "We are pleased with the progress we've made in establishing a premier presence in our communities and as an industry leader amongst our peers. We look forward to further developing new clubs on the East Coast and [in] Midwest cities with this continued momentum and are very committed to delivering our very best."
Urban Active clubs are 45,000 to 65,000 square feet. Most of them include an indoor swimming pool, panoramic elevated indoor track, basketball court, racquetball courts, cardio areas with more than 150 pieces of equipment with personalized flat screen TVs, cardio movie cinema, locker rooms, dry sauna, tanning, personal training, a smoothie bar, a pro shop and group exercise classes.
The company also recently introduced a new group exercise program called BeamFit. The program was designed to integrate physical movement with sense stimulation in a whole body focus using a 6-inch-wide by 5-foot-long beam that sits low to the ground.
