Los Angeles — The Sports Club Co. Inc., Los Angeles, had a decrease in revenues for second quarter 2009, as well as for the first six months of this year, according to financial results the company released last month.

The Sports Club Co. had second quarter revenues of $14 million compared to $16.4 million for the second quarter of 2008, a decrease of 14 percent. Membership revenue was $9.7 million in the second quarter compared to $11 million in second quarter 2008, a decrease of 12 percent.

The company also had revenues of $28.1 million for the first six months ended June 30, 2009, compared to $32.4 million for the same period in 2008, a decrease of 13.1 percent. Membership revenue for the first six months of this year was $19.6 million compared to $21.9 million for the same period in 2008, a decrease of 11 percent.

The Sports Club Co. owns and operates luxury health clubs under the name The Sports Club/LA and is traded on the Pink Sheets.
